An exhibition exploring the many different
perspectives on boredom. From 3 to 6 July 2025 at the creative space ‘Zotl’ in Graz. An exhibition as part of the master's thesis, in collaboration with Katharina Betz.
Role in the project: -> PROJECT MANAGEMENT -> CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT -> IMPLEMENTATION
Overall project duration: FEBRUARY – SEPTEMBER 2025
The exhibition ‘Room for Boredom’ is conceived as a space for individual and collective experience that explores different perspectives on boredom. Through a variety of approaches and interactive and digital elements, visitors have the opportunity to reflect on and broaden their understanding of the feeling of boredom.
The stations are based on a survey conducted in advance, which gathered diverse perspectives on boredom. The responses are curated and displayed in the exhibition, and visitors can expand upon them through interactive features. This creates an accessible and diverse educational experience that takes place not one-sidedly, but through exchange.
The exhibition was created as part of the master‘s thesis for the Exhibition Design programme together with Katharina Betz. In my research focus, I investigated how subjective perspectives and individually shaped themes can be exhibited and made accessible through spaces of personal experience. The ‘Room for Boredom’ served as a practical example for putting these findings into practice and reflecting on them.
The focus of this personal exploration is reflected above all in the stations ‘What does boredom sound like?’, ‘Which object is boredom?’ and ‘What is boredom?’. Here, visitors can engage with their own perspective on the facets of boredom whilst also reading or listening to other viewpoints. On the other hand, they can contribute their own views and make them part of the exhibition.
